The sieve of secrecy

On the occasion of VARIOUS OTHERS 2023, beacon is pleased to present a group exhibition with Carolina Aguirre, Helin Alas, Krystel Cárdenas, Jeanne Gaigher, Jens Kothe, and Berenice Olmedo, who will unite their individual artistic positions through the shared theme of human existence. The visualization of the status of the subject happens alongside individual questions about presence and absence. In the latter, the Self increasingly withdraws from surfaces or appears in its absence: through traces, skins, shells, objects and associations to human gestures. As the works of all artists are different in terms of media and materiality, they develop their own dynamics. There is a strong focus on the blurred lines of inside and outside: both from a formal aesthetic and work-inherent perspective, but above all from a semantic point of view: superimpositions and exposures of the invisible point to their own narrative structures. Through the creation of their own myths, thematization of rituals and the development of symbolic language, the works draft a new aesthetic of potential human presence. beacon freut sich, während VARIOUS OTHERS 2023 eine Gruppenausstellung mit Carolina Aguirre, Helin Alas, Krystel Cárdenas, Jeanne Gaigher, Jens Kothe und Berenice Olmedo zu zeigen. Entlang individueller Fragestellungen setzen sich die Künstler:innen mit der An- und Abwesenheit menschlicher Existenz auseinander. Bei der Visualisierung des Status des Subjekts unterscheiden sich die Arbeiten in Medium und Materialität und entwickeln vielfältige Dynamiken. Auch bei der Abwesenheit der Physis verweisen Spuren, Häute, Hüllen, Gegenstände und Assoziationen zu menschlichen Gesten auf subtile Momente der Anwesenheit. Überlagerungen und Enthüllungen des sonst Ungesehenen zeigen neue Narrative der Wahrnehmung des menschlichen Daseins. Alle Werke haben eigene Mythen, die Thematisierung von Ritualen und eine individuelle symbolische Sprache zum Gegenstand und entwerfen so eine neue Ästhetik von Potenzialen menschlicher Präsenz.
